Mike Tong creator of the “One” Cut Layering technique is married to Trang Lu and the father of their two beautiful children Eve and Erik. He has over 28 years experience in the beauty industry as an entrepreneur, business owner, master hair stylist, and licensed cosmetologist. Upon receiving his cosmetology license in 2005 he was accepted into the prestigious Paul Mitchell the School Education Program. This program is well-respected and renown for innovation and excellence. For the next seven years Mike traveled for Paul Mitchell intimately immersed in hair shows, working alongside top platform artists, learning everything from designer cuts, to foil placements, creative formulations, and styling secrets. The education and experience he received ignited not only his passion for creating gorgeous hair for any woman, but also an insatiable thirst for continuing education.

With that drive came his introduction into the world of Vidal Sassoon’s ABC Cutting and ABC Coloring. It wasn’t enough to learn what everyone else was doing. Mike wanted to master Sassoon’s fundamental techniques in the dynamics of hair, create his own individual Signature Cuts in hair styling, and generate amazing hair color transformations.

Fast forward 17 years later, he continues to advance his expertise in the latest color forms of Balayage, Airtouch Balayage, and Color Melting. In addition to his stylist’s chair being booked out more than six weeks in advance, you can find him co-partnering with his wife Trang Lu in growing her PMU makeup business and classes. He is living proof that continuing education is the key to being a successful hairstylist and entrepreneur.
